Got this one into the shop to restore. Had to share the homemade capacitor hold down clamp with you!

Worked on an amp that had a three wire cord attached. Opened the amp for service and found this. Not only was a wire nut used (bad, bad idea) but the short 14ga solid wire wasn't connected to anything! The short wire was stripped and just floating in the amp.

Open now on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9AM to 5PM, break for lunch at noon.

As always, you can call 620-603-1313 any time to contact me. NOTICE: That number Does Not take texts, it's a voice only number. I use it as a spam filter, please understand.

Just don't, that's all I can say. Amp came into the shop this week and found this in the bottom of the cab as "spares".

Need a 10 amp fuse but all you have are five amp? No problem, just solder two in parallel!

Want to see a really burnt up voice coil?

This type of damage is caused by direct current on the speaker leads.

If you have a vintage stereo (or amplifier) that does this, don't hook up another speaker until it's fixed!

Testimonials

Guitar Center referred me to Tom to get my QSC k12.2 speaker fixed. Wasn't sure what to really expect as this was my first time getting a speaker fixed, and all I can really say is.. wow. Tom is such an amazing guy and genuinely cares about the work he does. He is super professional and personal as well. Took it to him thinking it was the tweeter, but he got the problem fixed with the driver and it cost a lot less than what I was expecting. I highly recommend him, but do be patient with him as the schedule could vary with how much workload he has.

Tom did a great fixing up an old speaker I owned, he was able to get me spare parts straight from the manufacturer, and even helped me get extras for future repairs. I'm very happy with his service!

I contacted Tom about fixing my Orange Ad30 tube amp which wouldn't turn on. Tom quickly reached back out to me to schedule an appointment. The next day I brought my amp to Tom and he gave me a good general idea of who he is, how he works, and what he planned on doing to fix the amp. I was nervous about leaving my precious amp with Tom at first - but after a few minutes of talking to the guy I knew it would be in good hands. I then received a very fair quote, and was told to expect about a 2 week wait. To my surprise, Tom reached out to me the next day to let me know that he had gotten to my amp (way early) and that it was fixed. Tom explained in detail what was wrong with the amp, how he fixed it and then charged me a super reasonable price. The amp works good as new now, and Tom was sure to be gentle with it so it was returned in the same condition as it was left. Overall I am thrilled with my experience with Tom, and have already made plans to do more business with him! 5/5
